Holidays and other closings
The Lab School yearly calendar shows the planned closings due to holidays (grayed out dates).
August closing. We close for several days during August each year. This provides much-needed time for custodial staff to deep clean the classrooms, as well as for maintenance staff to address issues. It also gives our teaching staff a time to prepare for the upcoming school year as they participate in trainings such as CPR, first aid, fire safety, universal precautions, medication administration, etc.
Weather-related closings
The Child Development Laboratory School will be closed when Iowa State University fully closes its offices and on occasion, when specifically announced, for the ISU Lab School. Families will be contacted by Brightwheel and a follow up email, as well as notification of closure or delay will be posted on the ISU homepage under “News". If, however, in the rare circumstance that there are not enough staff on site to meet the required staff per child ratios, the Lab School is not permitted to operate.
